Delphion provides its web site as an aid to business professionals, inventors, academics, lawyers, and other professionals who are interested in intellectual property, patents, patent applications, and related content. Delphion also provides other intellectual property services, including intellectual asset management solutions and intellectual property exchange services.
Delphion's sole purpose in operating the web site is to provide intellectual property services to its users. Delphion never has, and never will "mine" the search strings submitted by users to our site for any reason. Delphion has never sold any customer information to any third party, nor will we ever do so. We will continue to do everything in our power to protect the privacy of our customers' searches. We collect only the information we need to provide accurate invoices to our customers and improve the quality and usefulness of our services to our users. As part of its Privacy Policy, Delphion complies with the Principles set forth in the U.S.-E.U. Safe Harbor Agreement concerning privacy standards.
- What Information We Collect
We collect the name, address, e-mail address and other personal information on each of our users as part of the registration process. This enables our users to access our web site without repetitive data entry. This information is used to communicate with our users about changes, new services, etc. In addition, we will aggregate personal information into demographic data about our users to enable Delphion to provide the most relevant and valuable services to our user community.
We also collect information for each User ID to support customer invoicing. We have built the web site to provide maximum anonymity for all searches. The search function is conducted on separate back office "search servers." These search servers never directly communicate with the user's web browser, and neither the IP address nor any other user information is passed to them.
We also keep records of e-mails and telephone calls (including, at times, recordings of calls) to our customer service center. We do this to make sure the problems and issues you bring to our attention are resolved promptly and correctly.
At the user's request, we may also collect detailed information on user's activities. The user will have the option to select what activities to be tracked when the user voluntarily selects to turn on our optional Tracking functionality. This information is used for the purpose of providing the user with a report to track time and activities.
- What We Do With the Information We Collect
We use your information only for the operation of our web site, and for providing invoices to you. Your personal user information is never used for any purpose other than registration, log-in, billing and order tracking. In addition, we do not make your information available to any third parties. For example, we do not provide our customer lists to other businesses or service providers.
We use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server. Your IP address is also used to gather broad demographic information about our customer population, so we can make the web site more effective. For corporate accounts, we recognize your IP address as an aid to present appropriate welcome messages and access to subscribed services. We maintain user log information long enough to generate a valid invoice or charge for chargeable services.

The Delphion web site has been designed with your needs for privacy and security in mind. We follow stringent procedures to protect our servers from attack and use encryption techniques to protect potentially sensitive data. We use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, for all e-commerce transactions and for all users under a subscription plan, to protect the confidentiality of your personal and transaction information. We store sensitive fields of personal data, such as credit card numbers, only in an encrypted form in our database.
While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line. All of our user's information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our billing, accounts receivable or customer service representatives) are granted access to personally identifiable information. Finally, the servers that we store personally identifiable information on are kept in a secure environment.

Choice

Basic users receive our newsletter and promotional materials as part of their free service.
