Y2K, Don't worry, but keep your browser happy...
On January 1, 2000, end-users with Netscape browsers older than version 4.06 will receive a "pop-up" screen from their browsers warning that the "Certificate Authority is Expired". This will occur when they access web servers and attempt to validate server certificates, as a precursor to establishing an SSL / encrypted session. These older web browsers, including versions of Netscape Navigator and Netscape Communicator, have a digital certificate that ensures secure, authenticated online transactions.
If you have a Netscape browser version older than 4.06 (released in August, 1998), you should update your browser to ensure a continued smooth experience while conducting secure online transactions such as shopping. If you use Netscape versions 4.06, 4.07, 4.08, 4.51, 4.6, 4.61, or the current version, 4.7, you do not need to upgrade. Please visit the Netscape site for further information.
Microsoft Internet Explorer is not effected by the expiration of the root certificate authorities; Internet Explorer does not check the root certificate authority's expiration date.
