| Abstract: |
The device, e.g. a wheelchair, can climb stairs, and has at least one running wheel supporting a load. At least one stair wheel (14) is fastened to the load, pivoted about its centre. The stair wheel consists of two or more individual wheels (27,28,29), turnable in a holder. The pivot centre maintains a distance to a bearing of an individual wheel, the length of which is determined by the height of at least one of two subsequent steps. The individual wheels roll on a plane (11) travelled by the running wheel. Each wheel may be locked within its holder, and each wheel has a locking brake within the holder. This locks the individual wheel, and permits pivoting of the holder about the bearing.

1. Vorrichtung zum Befahren einer Treppe mit einer sich auf mindestens einem Laufrad abstützenden Last, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß an der Last mindestens ein um seinen Mittelpunkt (16) verschwenkbar gelagertes Treppenrad (14) vorgesehen ist, das aus mindestens zwei in einer Halterung drehbar gelagerten Einzelräder (27, 28, 29) besteht, und der Mittelpunkt (16) einen Abstand zu jeweils einer Lagerung (24, 25, 26) der Einzelräder (27, 28, 29) einhält, dessen Länge mindestens von einer von zwei aufeinander folgenden Stufen eingehaltenen Höhe vorgegeben ist.
