L'Invention concerne d'une façon générale les dispositifs motorisés, pour fouteuils d'handicapés ou analogues, permettant notamment la montée et la descente des escalliers, le franchissement de bordures de trottoirs, etc. Selon l'Invention, un essieu porte à chacune de ses deux extrémités une platine (14) supportant trois roues (13). Les platines (14) peuvent être entraînées en rotation par des premiers moyens moteurs, tandis que les roues (13) de chaque platine (14) peuvent être entraînées de façon totalement indépendante par des seconds moyens moteurs, pour ainsi grandement faciliter la montée et la descente d'escaliers. Sont également décrits des moyens (18) asservis de stabilisation de l'inclinaison qui commandent les premiers et seconds moyens moteurs pour faciliter le maintien du dispositif en équilibre de façon autonome. Application aux fauteuils d'handicapés motorisés destinés à monter et à descendre des escaliers avec une grande sécurité.
