Abstract: [From equivalent  EP0497203A2]     An automated interactive customer class identification and contacting system for use in or for a cellular mobile radiotelephone (CMR) system. A mobile radiotelephone provides identification information as it originates a call or registers into thee CMR system by powering up or initially entering the area of coverage of a cell. This identification information is monitored by a detection module, and predetermined identifying characteristics derived from the identification information identify the registering mobile radiotelephone as a member of a predetermined class, such as roamers. An interactive module places a telephone call to the registering mobile radiotelephone and provides synthesized voice message information targeted to the specific class of radiotelephones, for example, roamers. The interactive module is further responsive to DTMF inputs from the user of the telephone, for example to select services offered by the cellular system operator, block further solicitations, provide information requested by the cellular system operator, and the like. A database module stores information associated with the mobile telephone such as acceptance or rejection of services, last time of detection or solicitation, and the like.

    1. Cellular mobile radiotelephone (CMR) system including at least one cell (12) comprising a broadcast antenna (15) and associated cell control equipment,
  • a mobile telephone switching office (MTSO) (25),
  • identification signal communicating means connected to said MTSO (25) operative to provide identification signals generated by a registering mobile radiotelephone as it registers into said CMR system by powering up or entering an area of coverage of a cell (12) of said CMR system, and
  • an identification signal monitoring equipment (40) connected to said identification signal communicating means;
    CHARACTERIZED BY a data processor (60) connected to said identification signal monitoring equipment (40) for detecting predetermined identifying characteristics of said registering mobile radiotelephone from said identification signals; and
a communicating means (45) connected to said data processor for, in response to detection by said data processor (60) of a selected predetermined identifying characteristic of said registering mobile radiotelephone, initiating a voice channel communication with a selected registering mobile radiotelephone having said selected predetermined identifying characteristic.
