Abstract: [From equivalent  EP0714500A1]     A heat exchanger (1, 14, 18, 41, 42, 44, 51, 52, 56, 71, 72) comprises: a first space (3) through which a first medium can flow along a first path; a second space (4) through which a second medium can flow along a second path; and heat conducting means (7, 50, 83) which are in thermal contact with the first medium in the first space and the second medium in the second space for transferring heat therebetween; which heat conducting means consist of heat conducting wires which extend from the first space and the second space with mutual interspacing and in mutually parallel relation in a direction differing from the directions of the first and second path over at least a part of both transverse dimensions relative to the said paths, and has the characteristic that the wires are arranged in flat strips or mats which are placed such that at least one of the media flows first between the strips or mats and then through the strips or mats and between the wires with heat exchange between that medium and the wires.     1. Heat exchanger (1) comprising:
  • a first space (5) through which a first medium (3) can flow along a first path;
  • a second space (6) through which a second medium (4) can flow along a second path; and
  • heat conducting means (9) which are in thermal contact with the first medium (3) in the first space (5) and the second medium (4) in the second space (6) for transferring heat therebetween;
  • which heat conducting means consist of heat conducting wires (9) which extend with mutual interspacing and in mutually parallel relation in a direction differing from the directions of the first and second path over at least a part of both transverse dimensions of the first space (5) and the second space (6) relative to the said paths,
  • which wires (9) are arranged in flat strips or mats (7) which are placed such that at least one of the media (3, 4) flows first between the strips or mats (7) and then through the strips or mats (7) and between the wires (9) with heat exchange between that medium (3, 4) and the wires (9).
