683.614. Spectacle frames. SOC. DES LUNETIERS. Feb. 10, 1949 [Feb. 12, 1948], No. 3736/49. Class 97 (i). A hingeless spectacle frame comprises a lens mounting and two side members fixedly joined thereto by means of sections of greater flexibility than said mounting and side members, whereby the side members may be folded flat on the mounting. As shown, the side members 3 formed of metal or plastic rod are connected to the mounting 2 by sections 1 which may be flattened or slotted, Fig. 5, to provide flexibility. Alternatively, side arm and mounting may be connected by a flexible metal strip or by a rod wound with one or more spirals of metal. The invention may be applied to the bridges of folding spectacles.
