832.913. Appliances for teaching invalids to walk. KIRKPATRICK, V. E. Oct. 17. 1956 [Oct. 18, 1955], No. 29654/55. Class 132(1) A walking aid comprises spaced handles mounted on a wheeled base open at the end below the handles, the apparatus being collapsible into a substantially flat position when not required. The apparatus comprises two base members 1 mounted on two small pivoted front wheels 2 and two large rear wheels 3. A U-shaped frame 4 is pivoted to the front ends of members 1 and comprises side members 5 connected at their lower ends by cross-members 7 and having at their upper ends handles 6. A third U-shaped frame 10 has each free end pivotally connected to the rear end of one of the members 1. Frames 4 and 10 are releasably connected together by bolts 11 and wing nuts 12 on frame 10 fitting into slots 13 on frame 4. A strap 15 with eyelets 15A is slung between hooks 5A on the handles. A brake 16 is provided for each rear wheel operated from a lever 17 on the corresponding handle. A strap 18 may be provided having eyelets at each end which engage over studs 20 on members 1.
