1432999.Resiliently mounted seats; vertically adjustable seats UNIVERSAL OIL PRODUCTS CO 9 May 1974 [22 May 1973] 24450/73 Headings A4J and A4U A vehicle seat comprises a seat part 20 adjustably mounted on a spring-mounted frame 13 by an upper back adjustable coupling 25 and by a lower front pivoted arm 22, the arrangement being such that adjustment of the coupling 25 results in vertical transitional movement of the seat part 20. The frame 13 is supported on a pivoted arm 10 connected to a torsion bar 12 on a base 11, and is connected to a carriage 14 having rollers 15 running in a column guide 16. A cylinder vibration damper 17 is provided. The coupling 25, see Fig. 2 (not shown), comprises slidably interengaged members (26), (28) which are releasably retained in adjusted position by a handle-operated spring-loaded detent lever (30) engaging a selected one of a plurality of recesses in a rack (32). In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the arm 10 and the arm 22 have a common pivot with the frame 13. In another modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the damper 17 is connected between the carriage 14 and the base 11.
