To seal a tightly radiused stitched seam, for example around the thumb of a glove or a mitt, a length of heat-activatable adhesive sealing tape is laid along the seam and pressure applied between complementary shaped surfaces (14, 16) of opposed male and female tools (10, 12) which substantially conform to the contours of the article in the region of the seam. At least one of the tools may be heated sufficiently for activation of the adhesive without pre-heating of the tape. <IMAGE>
