| Abstract: |
PURPOSE: To attain improvement for image-forming an object separately and independently from a background.
CONSTITUTION: This is a picture processing system and method for segmenting an object from the background of a scene by controlling a light source 120, and illuminating the object in a certain scene picture stronger than another scene picture. The two scene pictures are fetched by a picture inputting device 110, and compared. A part which experienced the increase of luminance of the pictures is segmented as that corresponding to the object. The picture inputting device 110 and the light source 120 can be placed in an opaque storage device having an opening, and the object can be viewed by the inputting device and illuminated by the light source 120 through this opening. The storage device is placed in a correct distance from the object so that the influence of an environmental light against the picture can be removed. The glare of the object can be removed by a polarization filter system.
