What is claimed is:     1. A semi-permeable membrane comprising a thin isotropic or anisotropic microporous membrane consisting essentially of a mixture of isotactic polystyrene and syndiotactic polystyrene, wherein the ratio of isotactic polystyrene to syndiotactic polystyrene is such as to provide said membrane with properties sufficient for maintaining structural integrity under conditions of ultrafiltration and/or microfiltration.
