Abstract:     A dental device comprises an intraoral nasal dilator and a mandibular repositioner working synergistically as an anti-snoring device. The device has a lower segment of thermoplastic material which is formed to fit over the lower teeth and is connected to an upper section of molded material extending between the upper jaw and the upper lip by a wire connector. The wire connector has mechanisms allowing adjustment of the lower jaw positioning. A wire extension with acrylic pads at end is bonded in the midline of the flange and extends out so that the pads stretch the tissue of the lip and lateral nasal walls preventing collapse during respiration while the anterior repositioning of the lower jaw maintains opening of the posterior pharyngeal airway during sleep functioning as an anti-snoring device. Additional applications of the intraoral nasal dilator include incorporation into sports mouth guards using a variety of materials.

    1. A method for improving airflow through a nasal passage of a patient comprising:

arranging a repositioning device in a mouth of the patient, the repositioning device including a base unit removably mountable on a lower jaw of the mouth, an upper section connected with the base unit, and a pair of buttons;

wherein the base unit includes an occlusal wall, a lateral wall connected with the occlusal wall and extending away from the upper section, and a lingual wall connected with the occlusal wall and extending away from the upper section, wherein the occlusal wall, the lateral wall and the lingual wall provide a structure for receiving at least a portion of the lower jaw;

repositioning the lower jaw of the patient relative to the upper jaw of the patient by arranging the repositioning device in the mouth so that the base unit of the repositioning device is seated on the lower jaw and the upper section is positioned in front of upper anterior teeth into a vestibule between the upper lip and the upper jaw; and

dilating the nasal passage by stretching soft tissue of one or both of the upper lip and the nose using the pair of buttons.
