"Ginger" is in the news again as well as its inventor Dean Kamen.
Kamen unveiled his two-wheeled, battery-powered transportation device on ABC TV's Good Morning America show last Friday and everyone is abuzz. Want to know more about Ginger the SegwayTM Human Transporter? You can find information about this patent right here on the Delphion website.
We've given you a direct link to the Delphion Integrated View for this patent, so that makes it easy for you to quickly find out more about Ginger. But what if you had no direct link?
The word "ginger" itself is not in the patent so searching for that word would not help. But you can find it, and following are a few search tips that will help whether it's for Ginger or one of the other 33,328,445 patent records on the Delphion website.
If you know the patent number (US05971091 the Ginger patent number was provided in the New York Times as well as other publications), then you can go to the Delphion Quick/Number search page and, in the Publication Number area, choose US as the country and enter the number only (5971091) in number entry box.
You can do a simple, yet effective search with just a few keywords. Certainly the inventor's name (Kamen) will help, as well as the word "transportation." But a search on kamen AND transportation yields quite a few patents and you would have to do some reading to find the one you want.
A search on kamen AND (transportation vehicle) will narrow your search down quite a bit. In fact, when using a search formed in this manner, the Ginger patent comes up first in the Result Set list.
