Delphion's Gordon Petrash to Address Nation's Top Corporate Counsel

As legal departments seek to enhance their companies' bottom-line, Petrash to speak on leveraging intellectual property assets

CHICAGO — May 13, 2002 — Delphion Inc., a leading provider of software and services that enable companies to fully exploit intellectual property, today announced that Gordon Petrash, the company's chief intellectual property strategist, will be a featured speaker at the Conference for Corporate Counsel: The Legal Department's Role in Enhancing the Corporate Bottom Line, which is June 6-7, 2002, in Washington, D.C. The conference is presented by the American Bar Association and the American Corporate Counsel Association.

In his presentation, Petrash will address how corporate legal departments can leverage new and innovative ways to capitalize on intellectual property assets. "Today, intellectual property presents corporate counsel with the greatest opportunity to enhance their departments' value," said Petrash. "Creative approaches and the enabling tools to leverage patents and other intellectual assets are beginning to return bottom-line value that top management recognizes and supports."

Petrash is one of the world's foremost authorities on the management of intellectual assets, which include intellectual property and other intangible assets. Prior to joining Delphion, he was a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, where he led the implementation of intellectual asset management (IAM) processes and systems for Fortune 100 companies. Earlier, Petrash was Dow Chemical's first global director of intellectual asset and capital management. An IAM visionary whose work has been cited by numerous books, journals and studies, Petrash has conducted IAM workshops for organizations such as the Securities and Exchange Commission, Brookings Institute, Institute for International Research, M.I.T. and Hoover Institution.

About Intellectual Asset Management (IAM)
Intellectual asset management is the practice of transforming intellectual property (such as patents) and other intangible assets (such as business processes and employee know-how) into strategic corporate assets. IAM generates value by enabling more effective technology licensing and lowering intellectual property creation and maintenance costs. In addition, IAM can generate value by helping create new uses for dormant intellectual property, and by enabling a company to better align its R&D with strategic business goals.
