Philadelphia PA, USA-London, UK December 2, 2003 Today, Thomson Scientific released enhancements to two of its key products, creating the only solution in the industry specifically designed for analyzing both Derwent World Patents Index® (DWPI®) data and original patent data. Customers can now export original patent data from Delphion® using a new Data Extract format, and then bring it into Derwent AnalyticsSM using a new import filter.
"This is an excellent example of the Thomson commitment to providing high value solutions to its customers," said Bob Smith, Vice President of Product Management for Thomson Scientific. "Through continual integration of its product line, Thomson allows customers to maximize their investment and derive more value from its products over time."
In addition to the new Derwent Analytics format, Delphion has added a Data Extract format for EndNote®, Reference Manager®, and ProCite®, three Thomson Scientific bibliographic management products, as well as two Extensible Markup Language (XML) formats. And, 12 new fields are now available for export, including abstract and claims. The Data Extract application now also gives users performance 20 times faster than before.
The enhancement to Derwent Analytics also includes the addition of thesaurii for Derwent Manual Codes, IPC Codes, and Derwent Abbreviations, making analysis of patent data quicker, easier, and more complete. The Derwent Analytics suite of pre-defined analytical macros has also been enhanced making it even easier for users to create charts and graphs.
Derwent Analytics was created in response to the need of professionals for a data mining and visualization software product for the desktop. User-friendly and intuitive, it provides an easy way to extract business-critical insights from the wealth of information available in the Thomson Derwent patent databases and now from the Delphion database of original patent data also.
Delphion Data Extract exports patent data for up to 20,000 patent records at a time for use in a variety of applications that now includes custom applications using XML, robust analysis tools like Derwent Analytics, and popular spreadsheet programs and text editors. This allows focused analysis of patent data by everyone from the business user to the professional researcher.
