Non-patent Prior Art Collections

Overview
Simply and quickly identify all patents and published materials relating to your intellectual property. Delphion's prior art collection is valuable information that you can't afford to do without.

Whether browsing unpatented inventions in IBM’s Technical Disclosure Bulletins (TDBs), utilizing reference material from over 16,000 journals, books and proceedings from the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) or searching defensive disclosures in IP.com, Delphion can help. Relevant cross-references are integrated directly with the related patent documents.

  • See the direct link from a patent to reference literature and citations
  • Determine innovation and novelty by researching defensive disclosures
  • Identify the number of patents that reference specific articles and directly link to those patents
Referenced patents, published materials and forward citations are identified and can be accessed right from the Delphion Integrated View. Links are provided to view patents referencing specific articles, and to TDBs from IBM. You can search the defensive disclosures of non-patented inventions through IP.com, and can also link to reference material from over 16,000 journals, books and proceedings from the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI).

Technical Disclosure Bulletins (TDBs)
The Technical Disclosure Bulletins (TDBs) were published by the IBM Corporation from 1958 until January 1998. They provided a forum for employees to publish defensive disclosures of inventions that were not formally patented.

Over the years, TDB articles have become one of the most often-cited references in patent documents. Today, there are over 48,000 references to TDB articles in U.S. patent documents which are linked to directly from the Delphion Integrated Views. TDBs can also be browsed by volume, and searched using a search word or phrase from the Delphion Prior Art search page.

ISI
In collaboration with ISI, Delphion offers access to the abstracts of ISI scientific journal articles. From the Delphion Integrated View, you can access ISI's eSource, an extensive collection of journal literature and non-patent citations that provide you with in-depth information relating to a patent's prior art reference.

A link in an ISI abstract description will take you to ISI's eSource database. There you can search for a topic across multiple disciplines and view the list of resulting titles at no cost. You can also view the full bibliographic record for an article on a per-use cost basis. The full bibliographic record contains backward and forward citations, and related records. The bibliographic records can be exported, saved and printed.

IP.com
IP.com hosts thousands of defensive disclosures published by inventors worldwide who publish this tactical defensive information in order to protect their intellectual property. These IP.com Disclosures and Alternates databases are searchable collections accessible from the Delphion Prior Art search page.

Using Boolean searches you can quickly construct multi-term queries with AND, OR or AND NOT operators. In addition, you can limit your search results by publication issue date or to a specific country. Disclosure abstracts can be immediately reviewed from the search results, directly on the Delphion website.
