Powerful Searching Capabilities

Delphion Research gives you searching that is simple enough for novices yet powerful enough for experts. Our rules-based search refinement avoids false hits and increases accuracy — while all of our search tools are optimized for effective cross-collection searching. In addition, we offer advanced query language support.

Quick/Number Search
The Quick/Number search lets you quickly find a patent by number, word, or phrase. You can search front pages only or full text including claims, across multiple collections.

See the Delphion Quick/Number search page.

Boolean Search
The Boolean text search enables you to search by words or phrases (alphabetical or numeric), using up to four designated patent fields. For each search item, you may choose to search "All Fields," or click the drop down menu to select the patent field you want to search. Boolean operators AND, OR, and AND NOT help to define the relationship between multiple search fields. You can choose an issue date range, which categories you want to include in your Result Set, and how to sort the results.

See the Boolean search page.

Advanced Search
The Advanced text search form allows even novice users to build complex queries automatically. Drop-down menus allow you to select date ranges for the issue, application and priority dates, and Boolean operators can be used within each field on the form. Patent classes and subclasses can be searched by entering the US Patent Class, the International Patent Class, or ECLA Class codes as the search criteria.

See the Advanced search page.

Browse Codes Search
The Browse Codes search form allows you to browse International Patent Classifications, US classifications, US maintenance status codes, Derwent Classifications, INPADOC legal status codes, and country-specific patent kind codes. And you can use keyword searching to find relevant IPC or US classes with drill downs through the entire hierarchy. At each level of the hierarchy the number of child classes are identified, along with the number of patents associated with each class.

See the Browse Codes search page.

Availability
Quick/Number searches are available to all registered Basic users as well as to Unlimited and Premier subscribers. Boolean, Advanced and Browse Codes searches are available to Unlimited and Premier subscribers.
