An Important Message for Customers in the
US and Canada about Sales Tax

This message is for customers in the US states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and West Virginia and for customers in Canada.

Thomson Reuters recently completed a review of sales tax practices for the products and services it sells. Based upon this review, it has been determined that Delphion subscriptions/purchases are subject to sales tax and we will begin collecting that tax with the May 2011 billing cycle. Customers in Canada will be charged Goods and Service Tax (GST) or Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) as appropriate.

In this regard, we make the following request:
  1. If you are exempt from sales taxes in the one of the states listed above, please provide a copy of your tax exemption certificate.
  2. Alternatively, if you hold a Direct Pay Permit and remit sales and use taxes directly to the above mentioned state or local jurisdiction, please provide a copy of your Direct Pay Permit.
  3. Also, if the products and services you purchase from us are accessed or used outside one of the states listed above, please provide a spread sheet denoting the street address, city, state and zip code for each access or usage location and the number of passwords designated to each location.
  4. In Canada, provincial governments that are eligible to receive products and services without paying GST/HST must certify that the products or services are being purchased with Crown funds.
If you do not provide any of the information requested above, we will begin charging sales taxes on all applicable purchases where such taxes are deemed collectible in accordance with state or local laws.
